A Children’s Book
of Farming in Le Cateau-Cambrésis
This book assembles a series of drawings made by students in the vicinity
of the Matisse Museum in northern France and highlights a program in which school groups would visit the
Matisse Museum and then travel to a dairy farm on the same day—one of the only connections between the farming
community and the museum. We created an
assignment for students to illustrate a text written by the local dairy farmer. The book was published through the Centre Pompidou’s Book
Machine program, distributed to participants, and made available through the Matisse Museum’s bookstore.
