The second iteration of the People’s Homes project invited representatives from five local nonprofit organizations in Portland, Oregon, to interview a longtime resident and share the elders’ experiences of home, family, displacement, and resilience. Newspapers are distributed in custom newspaper boxes that often hold commercial publications and advertisements. In their place, passersby are invited to take a free newspaper and learn about elders in their community. The five newspaper boxes are at locations including Ainsworth United Church of Christ, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School, Hollywood Senior Center, Metropolitan Family Service, and Multnomah County Library—Albina.
